What Size Excavator Do I Need? A Sizing Guide for UAE Projects
A practical framework for matching excavator class to your actual project scope.
Start with dig depth and reach
Your required dig depth and horizontal reach are the first filter — a PC220's 6.6 m depth and 9.9 m reach cover most standard civil and villa-scale work; anything deeper or wider-footprint typically needs PC400 class.
Then consider attachment requirements
If your job needs a heavy breaker or crusher/pulverizer, carrier class needs to match attachment weight — a PC220 can't run the heaviest breaker classes without hydraulic and stability limitations.
Factor in site access
Even if a bigger machine would be faster, site access can rule it out entirely — narrow gates, tight turning radius or finished-surface protection can push the right answer toward a tyre excavator or compact unit regardless of raw capacity.
When in doubt, ask
Send us your dig depth, footprint, attachment needs and site access constraints — sizing the right machine before mobilisation is the whole point of a proper quote, not an afterthought.
