Long-Reach Excavator Boom Configurations Explained
Why a demolition long-reach boom isn't just a longer version of a standard excavator arm.
It's a different front end, not just longer
A long-reach demolition boom is purpose-engineered — different geometry, different hydraulic cylinder placement — to trade digging force for extended horizontal reach and working height, not simply a stretched version of a standard boom.
Reach vs height — two different numbers
Reach (horizontal) and working height (vertical) aren't the same measurement and matter for different jobs — a wide low structure needs reach, a tall narrow one needs height. We size the front end to whichever number your building actually demands.
Two-piece vs three-piece booms
Multi-piece booms fold for transport and extend further than a fixed single-piece arm, at some cost to rigidity under heavy attachment load — the EC750DL's configuration balances both for real demolition duty, not just reach on paper.
Getting the reach right
Send us the building height and footprint and we'll confirm whether our EC750DL's 34 m reach and 26 m working height clear your structure, or whether the job needs a different method entirely.
